Electric floor warming systems are a great way to keep your feet warm, but many systems are susceptible to installation problems, including tile cracking and grouting failures. Centura Tile, the leading provider of floor and wall material for residential and commercial clients, is proud to distribute Schluter-Systems’ DITRA-HEAT products.
DITRA-HEAT is the only electric floor heating system that directly incorporates uncoupling technology to ensure that your floors won’t be vulnerable to cracking or grout. The cables can be placed in high traffic, as well as other desirable locations.
DITRA-HEAT consists of a heating membrane that secures the heating system cables and provides a substrate for the tile coverings, neutralizing stress between the two layers. The heating cables come in 120- and 240-volt cables and produce virtually no electromagnetic field. Finally, the thermostat comes in both programmable and non-programmable models with a built-in ground-fault circuit interrupter and a backlit screen. The programmable model also comes with over 250 preset programs.
DITRA-HEAT also incorporates an uncoupling solution, so it’s ideal for bringing heat to a floor. And since no levelling compounds are required, installation is also quick and easy.
The configuration of DITRA-HEAT holds the cables securely while providing space for uncoupling. This design allows for mechanical anchoring of the thinset mortar to the matting, so there won’t be a change in floor height once you have the DITRA-HEAT system installed; the system’s minimal assembly thickness makes for an easy transition to lower surfaces, making it ideal for any room in your home, be it the bathroom or the kitchen.
DITRA-HEAT uses four features to provide customized floor heating that prevents cracking and leads to a long life for your system:
- Uncoupling: DITRA-HEAT’s geometric pattern allows for in-plane movement that eliminates stress that may occur between the substrate and the tile, thus preventing cracking.
- Waterproofing: The system uses polypropylene to protect the substrate from moisture penetration: an essential feature for tiles in a washroom, kitchen, or any other room in your home affected by moisture.
- Vapour Management: One of the system’s features is free space underneath it, which allows for moisture that could cause damage to escape.
- Support/Load Distribution: DITRA-HEAT comes with column-like mortar structure within the substrate, meaning that weight is evenly distributed.
Centura Tile is proud to install this system at an affordable rate. Enjoy the comfort of DITRA-HEAT today!
