Stone/Slate Tile

Slate is a natural product, where the color and general appearance may vary greatly. One of the unique features of slate tile is the variation in sizes available.

When making your final selection we recommend that you see several pieces of slate together to get a sense of the colour range.

Brazilian Slate, MAP
This “Unfading" slate is very dense with a very low porosity. Unfading meaning it will hold its colour even in exterior applications. Vermont Slate may be used in interior and exterior applications.
Brazilian Slate, MAP
This slate is typically harder than Indian Slate. Brazilian Slate is fairly easy to install because of the very consistent gauging, which allows for a thin set as opposed to medium bed mortar installation.
Chinese Slate
This slate can be very soft and porous. The thickness of this stone may vary from tile to tile, and a medium bed mortar should be used to achieve proper bonding.
Using Patterns
Patterns provide playful and interesting shape and texture, versus grid designs with long, straight joint lines.

Our showroom staff will be happy to help you in creating a pattern.
